Help with vet bills and necessities due to fire

Donation protected
On March 10th, 2023 at 821am, my best friend and next-door neighbor, Karla and her family lost their home, all of their possessions, and some of their pets, to a devastating house fire. She did not have insurance on her place yet.

At the time of the fire, Karla's 6-year-old and 12-year-old daughters were at school but her 18-year-old son was home alone and asleep, and was woken up by the smoke. As the smoke and fire were getting worse, Gavin was becoming disorientated and was unable to get out on his own. Thankfully, my son Aaron was home. Being a volunteer at the local fire department, he has been trained in situations like that and was able to grab and lift Gavin through his bedroom window and out to safety. Gavin was then evaluated and treated by GHFD2 personnel on their arrival to the house fire.

While waiting for fire crews to arrive, witnesses observed one of their dogs (Bandit) and one of their cats (Pumpkin) run out the front door. Unfortunately, no one had seen their 1-year-old dog (Ollie) or their young cat Kratos run out.
Bandit was taken to Grays Harbor Veterinary Services for evaluation for possible smoke inhalation. He spent the day there getting Oxygen and fluids and was released late that afternoon.

Approximately 2 hours after the fire started, when crews were in overhaul, Ollie was located hiding under the living room couch. Firefighters brought him outside and provided Ollie with initial medical care using a donated pet oxygen mask. They helped load Ollie into the car with us and we rushed him to GHVS for treatment. Ollie was a fighter but Unfortunately, he suffered extensive internal thermal burns to his mouth, tongue, throat and lungs. While we were saying goodbye to Ollie, Aid was being called for Gavin as he was having trouble breathing. He was transported to the local hospital and released a few hours later after being treated for to much carbon monoxide in his system.

On March 11th, while searching to see if anything was salvageable, Kratos the cat was found deceased.

At this time we are asking for help with the vet bills that were incurred for both dogs, the cremation costs for both Ollie and Kratos, and help with Karla and her family getting the necessities they need while they try to find a new place to move into. A bank account is being set up tomorrow 3/13/23 for those who would like to donate but prefer not to donate on a GFM.

Thank you for taking the time to read all of this.
